Started as a passion project by a group of close friends and engineers that produced and freestyled together for fun, StemsDAO has evolved into a global community of artists. In just a few months, dozens of Stemheads (community members who make music with stems) have created close to one hundred new records, before the platform was even live. These musicians, together with StemSensei’s (curated artists who drop stems), are the beating heart of this project, and future owners of StemsDAO.
The StemsDAO platform fosters collaborative creativity by centering the experience around stems, which are the building blocks of music. Stems themselves are the individual audio tracks that make up a song – think the bassline of “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes.
if music is the language, stems are the words.
These individual pieces can be reused in different tracks, making attribution of royalties at the stem level extremely powerful.

Traditionally the stems of high profile artists are unavailable due to the complexity of copyright law. These sounds are priceless, due to the talent and image of the people who’ve created them, as well as the shared emotions and memories that they evoke. Artists who have shared their stems in our community include Elohim, Poolside, Harris Cole, Great Dane, White Cliffs, Sound of Fractures and more.
Many members of our community have had minimal past experience with crypto wallets so it our goal to onboard as many people as possible to the new world of web3.
